Meet Our General Manager

Michelle Tipene

Michelle was born and raised in New Zealand and has called Australia home since 2000. Michelle has lived in Perth & the Gold Coast before settling in Colac in 2015 to Manage Hall Funerals.

Michelle loves living in Colac and is a big part of the community. She has found Colac to be a great place to live and finds the locals very warm and friendly with a huge community spirit. Michelle and her husband Shane have many wonderful new friends in and around Colac, especially since joining the Rotary Club of Colac West, and Shane the Masonic Lodge.

Because of the nature of working within the funeral industry, the staff at Hall Funerals are a very close-knit team.

In Michelle’s own words ” It is such a privilege to do what we do. We meet some wonderful families who trust us to take care of their loved ones. This is a role we do not take lightly.

It is important to me to listen to each family’s needs and try to fulfill their wishes as best as I can.

Losing my own father in 2018 gave me greater empathy for the families I see, and the grief they are feeling.”

Funeral Assistants

Ian & Judy Pyke

Ian and Judy arrived in Colac 44 years ago and spent their working life teaching at the Colac High School.

Ian started working for Hall Funerals 16 years ago and Judy became a Civil Celebrant 10 years ago and has been doing weddings and funerals ever since. Judy also works in the office at Hall Funerals when needed.

They have two children, Angus and Megan, and 8 grandchildren ranging in age from 21 years old down to 5 months.

Both Ian and Judy find that working with people in their time of grief allows them to give back to their community by helping them through such a difficult time.

Funeral Assistant

Felicity Andersen

Felicity joined the team at Hall Funeral Services in 2022.

She and husband Robin moved to the South-West from Melbourne in 2014 to create their animal refuge and enjoy a slower pace of life. Since then, Felicity has focused on animal care and enjoyed volunteering with OCR FM, Colac’s local community radio station.

Before moving to the Colac area Felicity worked in the disability and aged care sectors and as a volunteer advocate for people with disability. She believes these roles have given her invaluable experience and skills to support her in her position at Hall and feels privileged to assist the bereaved at their time of need.
